YOU are kidding right?
I see maybe a couple of squarebody trucks per year. They're dust now.

With the shock mount almost rusted off, you will need to go to a good welder and have that replaced if there isn't bad rust on the frame as well!

I have decided to hold off on the control arms for now and just replace the lower ball joints. in another month or so I will take it to a shop and have a new shock mount welded on.

No, I can throw a rock in any direction and find one of these trucks. Well, not quite, but plenty are out there. Guys on youtube still crushing them - Adventures Made From Scratch in Kansas just did a couple because he thought they were too rough to save. Cowboy Car Crushing has squashed quite a few too.

Even here there was a couple in the yard, I picked some bits off a 95 G20 last year, had I known lower control arms were hard to come by I would have popped those off too. I passed on a 400 in a 4x4 Suburban because it was set up. You just have to go out and look, it won't pop up and come out of your screen like the girl in that horror movie that comes out of the well.

After doing some research I discovered that GM part numbers for control arms for G series vans and GM pickups are different. So I went about finding out why. After looking at a picture of the pickup control arm I did not see any bracket to attach the shock. This is because the shock on a pickup is located inside the coil spring. On a van it's outside.

Steve Mags on youtube has been doing a "Junkyard Crawl" series all out of one yard in Bernardston MA and there's dozens of these vans in there. He's made videos on a few, others you see in the background. Some are pretty rough, others look like you could throw a battery and gas at and drive away.
