I’m looking at a 2003, 2500 short wheelbase Express with 80,000 miles. It has the 6.0 engine. I’ll see it in person on Monday. What should I be looking for?

I’m planning to use it to tow about a 3500# trailer.

LOL Did they ever make them in anything other than white?

I was hoping for some pointers on what specifially to look for in a 2003 with the 6.0. Suspension, engine, tranny? Any trouble areas?

 

nah powertrain is fine, unless it's FlexFuel.

Paint in 2000's model years is the real trouble area.

 

I've seen these things listed for sale with half a million miles on them and still running/driving. I would just look for the normal stuff you do on any used vehicle. If you live in a heavy road salt area, look the frame over well for rust. The rear spring hangers, too, have seen those with big rot holes in them.

 

avoid post-bankruptcy GM vehicles. Fit & finish goes down the toilet, and they become expensive electronic nightmares as they age.
