2008 Savana - oil leak question
I'm looking at purchasing a used 2008 Savana with 108K miles on it. The van is super clean and drives well. However, I crawled under it and found the crank case to be very oily. I know the 4.8L V8 can leak from various spots. But I was surprised to see a leak with only 108K miles on it. Question: Is it normal for this motor to have leaks at this mileage? The van's age may also be a factor, affecting gaskets, etc.
Any insight you can offer would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Well, there are signs of oil seepage on various areas on the bottom of the engine on my 2006 Silverado, with 134K miles on it. So, 2 years older than yours, and 26K more miles. It isn't dripping on the driveway or anything however and was only mildly oily. Nothing like my 1996 C1500, which does drip a little in places.
So.... I would not expect a MAJOR leak at 108K miles on a 2008 vehicle, myself, but it's certainly not unreasonable to have some minor leaks at this point. It's 16 years old after all.

The only common leak I've heard of is the oil cooler gasket. Quick fix. Do you have an oil cooler?

Not sure if this one has an oil cooler. But, like you say, quick fix. Thanks for the info!
