Default 2009 Chevy Express Door locking randomly

Our Express' doors keep locking randomly when we move/take the key fob a certain distance away. We can leave it in the shop overnight with the fob within 10 feet or so and it remains unlocked all night/day. However when we're on jobsites, or even as we tested it in the shop, when the fob is moved "X" feet away from the van it will lock itself and beep the horn.

We've tried turning delayed door lock on and off in the customization menu but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!!

If this is some sort of option, it will be covered in the owners manual.

Is that the passive arming option in the DIC?

We've searched through the manual multiple times for any form of locking features and we've tried turning them on and off in the DIC but nothing has worked sofar.

We didn't see anything in the manual for passive arming specifically, nor in the DIC. Is this a feature that all Expresses have? We'll do some digging online today about that to see what we can find but if you know of a way to shut that off we'd greatly appreciate any information you can provide!

Thank you both for the responses!

I found "passive locking" is a thing,(Google) as early as '07, and is accessed through the DIC.

There's nothing about passive locking in my manual or DIC (2013).

There are no factory functions which wait for a particular RKE distance. Your problem is very strange. Maybe aftermarket stuff.

Don't assume it wasn't a thing because yours doen't have it.

There should be a passive arming option. It locks the doors after they are all closed after a certain amount of seconds. I personally hate that with a passion. I always turn it off.
If that is not it, then I would assume there is a fault.

The doors lock when you put it in drive and unlock when you put it in park. Perhaps there is an issue with the steering column switch....
Have you tried sitting in the van and waiting for this to happen.....
As for the key fob, I do not belive in 2009 there was any sort of system where the vehicle knows how far the fob is.....That is more common with the newer push button start vehicles.
