Default 4L80-E dipstick hitting tran pan

Hello to all I am new to this forum I have an inquiry about the dipstick hitting the bottom of my 4L80E transmission pan before fully inserted into the tube. Anyone got an easy fix for this? I guess I'll just drain the fluid again pull the pan down with my reusable gasket and mark the point where it's fully inserted into the tube and even with the pan to casing plane. My thing is I'd like to ask is anybody ever cut the end of this dipstick off so it didn't hit the pan to try to get a good reading I realize the cold markings are down there at the bottom of the stick but I ain't doing any good unless the reading is from the pan up.

Have you changed the motor or trans - curious why you are having this problem; how long have you had the van?

How's the van for 3 years it's been a great van bought it with 255,000 miles on it knowing it was a fleet vehicle for $3,000. It's got a nicely installed four solar panel on top Power Bank inside and it came with a Dometic Fridge and so this was the obviously correct thing to do with my money when I was losing my apartment and had nowhere else to go . City Driving in Portland Oregon Highway a lot of highway driving usually only for half an hour at a time transmission same transmission same engine same dipstick same dipstick tube it's just I'm just now getting to work on the transmission because it started to skip a beat holding the accelerator steady at 55 to 65 mph it would stab me in the seat and lose power for just an instant. This is when i decided to chwck on the transmission. Today I decided to read what three years of the same spark plug use would do to the spark plugs and the engine. I learnt I'm the loss of power for a Split Second might be something other than transmission. So I'm going to get me a mid-range code reader that I can have real time displays STFT/LTFTetc. I did a drain and fill with a filter a week ago. At this time when I seen the end of the dipstick I thought it was part of the transmission somehow that was a safety mechanism that the pan isn't there it wouldn't drive or something . As if this end of the dipstick was a spring loaded pin to push up with the pan that enabled the transmission to work only when the pan was installed . I didn't realize that pushing the last inch to get the dipstick into the tube all the way was actually causing the end of the dipstick to bend from hitting the pan until I did the second fill . The first fill I know I had too much because well it bubbles on the dipstick so I drained a little out and drain a little out and drain a little until stop bubbling . Now that I've got the second training field done trying to get a clear reading on that thing knowing that the dipstick is what the pan hits when I reinstall it I don't know what to do about it except for dropped pan and mark the dipstick days later I did another drain and fill. Its currently driving well without missing but still shifting hard to second and third gear. I've learned quite a bit in the last two weeks about the transmission seems how that's been all I've been thinking about and living lately. I'm at the point now where I'm just going to drain the fluid again pull the pan down and mark the plane where the pan meets the casing after getting a straight edge across the casing cuz I'm done messing around with it. I really don't want to do any more damage to it so im babying it slow off the red light whether people get pissy euth me or not.

Does the stick still easily seat all the way down? Maybe it's supposed to be that way?? Check to see if the tube holding the stick has slipped - have seen that on a few boat oil dipstick tubes. Maybe verify with the dealer you have the correct stick.
