If you have any questions during your rebuild, just let me know. If you find you have to change some geartrain parts, be very very careful, the parts have been updated a few times and nothing retro fits.
Just wanted to mention that because of the high mileage. Gary

thanks gary, I appreciate your concern. this will be my first rebuild. good thing its on my own vehicle. Do you know if there is a way to replace the overdrive with a higher ratio? I've got 4:11 gears and at 70 mph I'm getting above 2500 RPM. Just wondering if there was a way to increase the overdrive to lower my RPM.

I did something new today. I had a Snap On diagnostic computer connected while driving. The trans did the same problem where it down shifts in to 3rd, then increases the fluid pressure causing 1-2 shifts real hard. Everything resets when the ignition is turned off and back on. Today, I was able to get it to resume normal 4th gear by clearing the code while driving. If there was a way to program the PCM to ignore the code, it may fix the problem and delay having to rebuild the trans for a while. Does anybody know if the PCM can be programed to ignore certain codes?

No, that cant be done, the only thing you pretty much can do is keep clearing the code, but remember, usually the more you drive it the worse it will get. Gary
