Default 92 G20: need to replace the drivers side seatbelt

I need to replace the driver's side seatbelt in a 92 G20. The retractor doesn't lock correctly.
The part number is 15661687, which is discontinued.

Has anyone had any luck with converting a different year's seatbelt to this year? In 92, the retractor mounts up high behind the drivers head, instead of low next to the B pillar.

Thanks,
James

I just got some blue ones to match my van from a pickup truck. I will have to put a bolt behind left shoulder to keep geometry of belt and have to have latch part on steel cable to floor between the seats. Caused my on mess though when I swapped both front seats to swivels. Belt anchors were on both sides of platform. Pickup uses 3 point system but other than that I'll just have to drill sheet metal to mount

My son's van has captain chairs that swivel as well. So in your case, the retractor is going to bolt to the roof, or down by the floor. I can see rigging something up either way. Either the retractor on the roof with the belt going across the driver's chest to the buckle and then from there across the driver's lap to an anchor point on the side of the seat, or with the retractor on the side of the seat and the belt travelling up to a pivot point attached to the roof, then across the drivers chest to the buckle, then across the drivers lap to the anchor point on the side of the seat. just need a much longer belt for that run. Is that what you're doing?

The reason I got it was retractor was on floor out of the way and the slip slot(?) Was even with shoulder and about 3 inches higher.
I wish I could remember more about the truck than it was a chevy with bench seat.
Junkyard was having a wheelbarrow sale and I had a long list. Ive used alot of suburban parts on mine so I think they would be worth looking at too.
regular price was only $8.50 so I dont know why I waited
