Default 94 Chevy Sport Van broken hood release cable

Hi, just as the title of the thread says we have a 1994 Chevy Sport Van G30 I believe and the hood release cable is broken so we can not access the engine compartment. The shop we use to service the van says they have looked high and low and can't find a replacement and no luck at the junk yards either so far. Any ideas on how to rig a release that can be accessed from jut the front of the van without pulling the hood release inside the van. Right now we just have a small gauge wire hanging out the front of the van and it works but that wire will not last long.

Thanks for the help....

Welcome from Florida. Did you try Ebay? You can also look at cables from pickup trucks and other Chevy/GM vans from the same years and and make them work.

Can't be looking very hard, that cable is the same for at least 10 years of vans, G10 G20 G30 doesn't matter.

Took me five minutes to find one from GM Parts Direct, says it's for a 1990 but they're all the same. $35 or so.

Thanks William, I will check it out. Our mechanic says he could not find one anywhere. I will buy it and take it to him to install. I had no idea how many years would be the same part so thanks for clearing that up also.... Thanks again William and OldChevy for your help.
