ABS dash light - intermittently staying On
The ABS failure warning light on the dash board is intermittently staying illuminated after I start the van.
This has occurred off and on over the past couple of years.
Usually the light goes away the next time I start the van. Sometimes all I have to do is turn off the engine and restart it for the light to go out.
Recently the light stayed On over the course of three trips but is now Off again.
I have never seen the ABS light come On while driving.
Anyone have clues where to look for the light gremlin?

The ABS sends a bias voltage down to the sensors when you turn the key on to verify the integrity of the wiring and connections and sensor. If for any reason the result is not as expected it will illuminate the ABS light and drop a code. This is all done before the vehicle ever moves.
Now you have some idea where to look for possible problem with the code provided.

check the condition of the wheels speed sensor, and make sure wheel bearings aren't wallered out.
But the fact there are those circuit codes makes me suspect an electrical problem, like loose or corroded wires somewhere. I would start looking around the brake controller computer, and the actual ABS actuator.

I doubt it. The vehicle stops and functions normally as though it did not have ABS.
One of my vans the rear lines had been redone and plumbed right around the unit, which was apparently non-functional.
If ABS is not important to you, or it's not worth the expense to fix, then you just turn it off.
I've only found it useful in conditions where roads are snow-covered and slick.

Many folks are not aware of the liability, especially ,with a hungry lawyer, they incur when disabling a safety feature The laws are out there and if anyone doubts it, check with a dealership and you will be surprised how much regulations prohibit disabling certain safety features. Any shop is held liable for allowing a vehicle owner to take a vehicle from the shop with a TPMS not working !!! Unless they have the owner sign a notice that the owner is accepting full responsibility on the work order.
It might work, but is it legal, NO !
FYI , Fines start in the area of $10,000.00. Check it out.
