Service guy said I could save a ton of money if I find a used seat with a working occupancy sensor and install it.

I've checked ebay, my local craigslist and all my local junkyards and come up with nothing.

Ebay does have NEW seats but when I called the seller to ask if the passenger seat has the occupancy sensor... he said NO. I dunno what the buyers of these new seats are doing without an occupancy sensor.

Does anyone have a grey cloth passengers seat with a working occupancy sensor for an 06 express? I'm near Albany NY 12208 but would pay shipping for the right seat.

What about just joining the wires in the harness to keep it occupied mode all the time? I.E. Bypass the sensor. Unless you are planning to put a baby in the front seat, you don't need to turn the airbag off.

 

Do you have details on bypassing the sensor? I want to do this for other reasons but same concept (I want the airbag to always be on). Is a resistor required to fool the computer? 2006 Express 1500 AWD. Thanks

 

I would find a way to make it stay off, not on. Maybe the 2 wires need only some small voltage between them.....like with a resistor wire. Full connection might mean having the airbag on.
So glad I don't have this crap on my van.
