Default Airbag questions

Hi guys...

Question about airbag sensors.

The warninglight for the airbag, comes on from time to time...

Whats the most common issue?
Does the driverseat have a sensor for the airbag?
Or does someone have wiring diagram?

It's a GMC Savana 1500 2005

Very thankful for some help with this

I think there is also a weight sensor in the passenger seat that keeps the passenger airbag off unless someone over 80 lbs is sitting there. Maybe its acting up. Lots of threads online about these sensors and how to disable them.

Thanks for your reply... Searched around but couldn't find what I was looking for...

But is there a weight sensor on the driverside as well?

I would take it to a shop and have it scanned for codes. Might point out your issue.
As for the sensors, I think there is only one for the front passenger seat.
If it acting up, you may have to either replace it, or find a way to bypass it, to keep the airbag on all the time.......that means no kids up front.

The sensing and diagnostic module is located under the drivers seat, its possible its going bad or has an intermittent issue...
I would be extremely careful messing with it as you could set off the air bag(s)
I would check for any stored trouble codes... it might be worth a trip to the dealer just to have it read/checked and then you can decide how to go forward...

You might want to check that the module is securely mounted and not loose, it needs a good ground.

Hi again guys....

Maybe a stupid question, haven't look at the module yet. But if it has some trouble codes, won't show up when you have the OBDII scanner connected?

Or is it a stand alone system that is not connected to the cars computer??

If it's the passenger sensor thats messed up, does anyone know how to bypass it? And canucklehead thanks for the reminder of no kids up front. But this is my work veichle so only full grown men will ride with me...

Thanks again

//Michael

I do not know the answer to that one... I would check it for codes and go from there...

Hi again

Hooked up my scanner and tried to check for troublecodes, there where none.
Don't know if you need a more advanced scanner than mine?

My scanner can only read these protocols
ISO9141-2
KWP2000 Fast och Slow
PWM
VPWM
K/L
KK/L
CAN-Bus 11 Bit/250 kBaud
CAN-Bus 11 Bit/500 kBaud
CAN-Bus 29 Bit/250 kBaud
CAN-Bus 29 Bit/500 kBaud

Link to the scanner
OBD2-Shop.eu - OBD-DIAG AGV 4000 BL blue-line

So the story continues...
