So, I started my new van this morning to go to work and it started idling rough. message center said reduced engine power. I retrieved code 1682. Now its at the dealership. Less than 900 miles on it. Have not even made a payment yet. Bad relay board? Seems to have also damaged the computer. Not sure what to think. This blows.

Mixed emotions on this. I love the computer age we live in, but miss the simplicity of points/condenser ignition.

You can keep your distributor. They were a royal PITA.

Say what you will, but points will never leave you stranded (provided you have some tools). HEI dies, you will not get home without a new one or a tow truck.

HEI only fails if the module burns out. Can be swapped out with a spare in 5 minutes. Points are ok but need maintenance. HEI goes strong until it fails. If the condensor fails, you still need a spare. Both are ok, I just like hei better.

So my electrical problem was one of those weird problems that dont make any sense so it took the tech 2 days to figure it out. One of the fuses had one tab bent sideways when installed and was touching the fuse next to it getting intermittent contact. Hats off to the tech that found it.
