Coolant flush
I don’t know the service history of my van so I’m doing PM items before a long trip. I want to flush the cooling system (Dexcool) but am finding conflicting answers on how to do this as it doesn’t sound like a simple drain, flush, refill like on older cars. I’d rather not screw something up so I’m thinking of just taking it to a dealership. Is this a waste of money or is this procedure easier than it appears? Also, I’m in the South but plan on being in the North for the winter. Do I need a different mixture ratio of the Dexcool for colder temps?

Here is what the service manual says ( open the attachement)
The fluid capacity for a 6.0 L is 14 Liters of 50/50 mixture distilled water and Dexcool
No matter where you are... it must be the same mixture ratio.

Don't bother removing the engine block drain plug. It's probably a huge PITA and totally unnecessary.

This is where I was confused. I’ve read multiple conflicting methods, but they must be between these two designs.

I have a 5.3l engine. I’m sure the procedure is the same. The “t” goes on either heater hose. Water goes through the block and out the radiator
