Disabling paslock, but weird situation
I am building a van, converting it to 4x4, and extending the frame, problem is I started from a wrecked van where people cut the harness to remove the engine and trans. So, I had to get a harness from a truck, splice it in, make things work, and an ECU also from truck (Same engine, trans).
Problem is, everything I have gotten, engine, harness, transmission, van chassis, are all from boneyards.
I can get the van to crank by manually stimulating the starter, and I get spark. I did not hook up the fuel pump yet as I am working on repairing the fuel tank, but...
I read the passlock system, only disables the fuel pump. Beings that, I have gotten everything to work, cluster, gauges, spark etc to work, if passlock disables starter, which I can easily bypass by wiring the ignition switch directly to the starter relay (easy), why wouldn't I just also wire a Hot while On+Start to the fuel pump relay, and bypass the entire system altogether? (Also easy, fuel pump is on when key is on, or I wire in a switch to the dashboard control panel as an added security measure, in fact that idea appeals to me more, directly to battery.)
The reason I ask is, I do not know the resistance of the key from the donor trucks ECU nor do I have the donor truck's VIN number. So instead of messing around with resistance matches, why not just cut the system out of the loop entirely? I think the donor truck was an 00 or 01 and my van is an 05. Nothing newer than 05.

Disabling Passlock 2 with a resistor, but 2 wires are the same color?
Hi,
Due to a situation where I am frankenstein assembling a different engine/harness etc, I am having to disable and re-learn a system where the passlock needs to be disabled.
In, searching the wires coming from the ignition switch sensor, where the passlock code is read, every instruction tutorial I have read, says to use the "black" (or brown) (middle) wire and the, (yellow) wire, except, BOTH outer wires are the exact same color in my ignition switch harness, both are yellow.
Is there an easy way to determine which one to put the resistor across? Such as, measuring a voltage reference to ground? To determine which yellow to use? (And I assume the center wire)

Should I pay hundreds of dollars a year for a program I will use a handful of times in my life, and just not post on a forum at all? Why not just post that video here, too? Wouldn't that be more helpful for almost all of the questions, here?

You clearly didn't watch it. I was just trying to help by providing you the tools to solve these problems yourself, without having to rely on anybody.
Post away. I never suggested you shouldn't.
Chill out.
