Default drive verses overdrive?

Is it better for the transmission to drive in drive than to drive in overdrive on hilly roads?

It is my understanding that you don't want to labor the transmission too much as it will heat up and Fail earlier. Driving up hills will labor the tranny more than down. Overdrive should mostly be used for flat constant speed highway driving. If you don't have a transmission cooler you may want to invest in one. They help a lot!
