Default Front suspension/bump-stop height (2010 Express 2500)

Gentlemen,

2010 Express 2500. About 190k miles. I'm looking for any sort of input on what constitutes a "normal" ride-height.

Attached is what we've got going on. LCA is pretty much nudging the bump stop. Given, my rig has seen many miles, so it wouldn't surprise me if the springs have sagged. But I'm also kicking around buying a couple leveling pads to bump myself up 2" or so.

But if I'm just crutching shot-springs, maybe I should consider that instead. Anyway, my day to day use isn't for cargo or hauling (often). I've converted it into an adventure-van, and I sort of want a little more travel before I hit the stops on forest roads.

Thanks,

Hmm, thanks. Spring versus torsion. But maybe GM kept dimensions similar.

the measurements should be same for springs. The only difference is that torsion bars can be adjusted.

Alrighty, we're an 8600 lb GVWR. And it looks like from centerline of the pivot point to that lower edge, we're at about 3.5"

So, yeah, def some sag. Guess I'll look at springs too.

If it's any help, our 2015 chassis has sat on the factory bump stop since it was new. I put a set of Sumo stops in and that raised it about a 1/2". I ended up removing them and trimming about a 1/2" off them due to the harsh ride they created. The Sumo's still make contact with the a-arm but the ride is much more tolerable.

Hmm, good to know. At this rate, I might just just buy a new pair of OEM springs and do a leveling spacers.

Plus refresh some of the other parts in there. I drive forest roads from time to time, and I think I want a little more height off the stops.

I guess this forum doesn't get much activity My youngest son, doodle, and I are still maintaining a 2004 Express 2500 and use it extensively during Midwest summers.
I don't know much about the springs but my '04 are seemingly still doing their job. Added new shocks and bump stop this week in 2025.
