Fuel economy still suck big time. 02 Express.
Hey all.
I have changed my 02 sensors, muffler to a magnaflow, checked my engine temp sensor and still have a van that gets 10 miles to a gallon. When I bought it 80,000 kms ago...( it had 100k now 185 k)...it got 14 in the city and 15 1/2 on the hwy. Now its crept down to 10 mpg over the last 6 months or so.
I cannot figure it out. I guess I will have to pay for a good scope and to have the cats checked....
...anyone else had this problem and what fixed it?
Thanks.

There are so many things to consider that could be causing that. Tire pressure, spark plugs & wires, brakes calipers, timing, fuel pump pressure and/or filter, type of fuel, compression. The list can go on & on. Also depends on the driver, you or someone else, could be accelerating harder than normal which would kill your MPG. Without any real codes to troubleshoot it's kinda just a crap shoot.
Been using fuel system treatments and a lighter right foot. It has come up to just under 12mpg city, and I got just under 14 hwy a little while ago.
I don't want to get to deep into cost to improve things as it won't pay for itself. Not going to keep this van long enough....
