We have a 1995 g10 4.3 it has been sitting and only fired up and moved around a little in the past few years. Hubby is selling it but we are seeing a problem that when he has it in reverse the motor runs strong but when he puts it in drive it starts spitting and sputtering and cuts off. ANY HELP would be appreciated on this problem.

 

Are you refering to an S10? Does it idle fine in nuetral? How many miles on the transmission?

 

No it is a g10 work van. The tranny has been rebuilt and only driven maybe 20 miles. Brand new torque converter on it as well.

 

Now, that makes the transmission the chief suspect, doesn't it? You may want to tell your hubby that the torque converter may be locking up prematurely.
