I'm planning on insulating the walls and then skinning with something. In the meantime, i'll be careful. I need to make the tie down points anyway before I can even think about transporting a bike. Not that I can ride right now either (recovering from knee surgery).

I'll keep an eye out for a seat, I think that's the way I want to go.

As for the Limited slip, I need to do more research. It sounds like the D60 we have might be a 33 spline which I don't thing detroit makes a truetrac for anyway.

 

That was a clutch style limited slip not the gear style correct? I understand there is a huge difference.

 

I am pretty sure the Dodge posi was called Sure Grip if it had clutches or not don't know, never removed the cover. Could hear the inside tire scrubbing when turning in sand.

 

yea limited slips have been called various names over the years, I don't think any manufacturer ever had a true locking diff except toyota that had an option electric locker for a while.

 

So I've been able to work on the van a bit over the last week. I also got paid for a machining job that allowed me to buy some goodies! In the mail are new shocks, new touchscreen stereo with backup camera, some sound damplifier and FLOWMASTER 50 Series mufflers! Woot! It's got a mini LS, might as well sound good

Before we get there, some maintenance had to be done. I needed to replace the knock sensors, so we did both sensors, sub harness, intake gaskets, throttle body gaskets, spark plugs and wires, and air filter. I also put silicone grease on all the connectors I could find.



I thought the injector wash was pretty interesting. Also, VALVES!


I installed a class IV hitch




Then I started laying down the 8ft lengths of E-track I got on Friday.


First, drill a hole

then, load your high strength rivnut onto the flaring tool


add a washer


and some rtv to seal/adhere


Then you put it in the hole and wrench the tool to expand the nut tightly around either side of the sheet metal. Whala! integral anchor point.

Repeat this 20 times per side while avoiding expensive bits underneath (this van has GOBS of room under the floor) and you can screw down the e track. You have a very strong and well distributed composite beam now.



you can also position it foreward and back with relative ease.




Cut some crap out of the floor pad which you'll probably throw away later in favor of bedliner...
