Is this still a problem on the new vans ?
my 2005 is like a patchwork quilt with all the shades of white on panels that were repainted over the years

Heck that's nothing. Going on 22 years with my 1998 Chevy K-1500 and no paint-loss at all. But then she isn't white. She's painted in a deep forest green metallic color.

White paint seems to be Chevrolet's' problem with paint staying put along with certain shades of blue.

Unfortunately, yes it is.

Way back in 1989, my company had a Chevy K-1500 in white. It lasted about three years and the paint started coming off.the hood and the roof.

I have no clue as to why Chevy cant maintain a white paint, even now, many years later. Guess you'll will have to ask Chevrolet about that issue.

Thanks for posting this.

I've always thought about using small claims court to recoup part of the cost to strip and repaint -- small claims max is $5000. It appears from the narrative on that website, GM folds and settles as opposed to having to appear in court.

I have documentation, photos and repairs dating back to 2011 when the delaminating started to appear.

After I get the van back from the shop, I think I'll send GM a letter with photos and demand reimbursement. This could be interesting to see how they handle the inquiry and respond...

Gonna tell yall 1 time. Walk into walmart and get a few $4 cans of white appliance epoxy paint. And do good prep work

I've had 2 ,a 89 and 07 both peelers. Both were from Canadian plant. Both had the gray primer.And I got both looking decent with $4 a can appliance epoxy. Lots of sanding to get it smooth and finished up with 400 grit. Wiped down with alcohol and used light coats. Hit it with a little compound then waxed it. End of problem. BTW, I've noticed the white paint did not have a clear coat but other colors do. AND- on both vans,white paint FLAKES away from primer without a chip in it
