I am looking at a diesel G 20 conversion Van.
What should I be lloking for, what are common problems.
Why does Kelly Blue Book reduce value by 20% for diesel?

What else should I be asking?

What year? I bet its the old 6.5 diesel which was a converted gas engine. Not that good. Prob the reason for the reduction.

 

With all due respect the 6.5 diesel was not a converted gas engine. They got a bad rap because the first run of 6.2 diesels had problems. The design is Detroit.

If the engine on that van is in good running condition I would not hesitate to buy it.

I stand corrected. I thought in hindsight that maybe I was thinking of the 350 diesel, but I looked that up and was wrong again. Gonna refrain from diesel comments from now on.

To the original poster, the vans never came equipped with the turbo, which is good.. simple design, no turbo to worry about.
