Default MAJOR OIL LEAKAGE

Someone please help me!!! When I start my van major oil leaks from the front of the motor. Thought my oil filter came loose and that drained my oil but I replaced it and new oil, now it's leaking my new oil in the front.

98 chevy express van 1500 with a 350. Found out it was the oil filter. The gasket kept pushing out from it making the oil come out. I still don't know why that would happen??
I use fram filters, I've used them for years and never had a problem. I don't know whats goin on.

the only thing that it could be was that the old gasket came off the old filter ,and double stacked on the new filter .or it was the wrong filter to begin with !

I checked after I took it off there's no sign of an old gasket stuck on there for a double layer and my 98 chevy express with the 350 takes a ph5 fram filter. Thats all I buy for it. Could there be something clogging where the oil comes out to the filter then back thru the block?? Causing it to blow the gasket out?? Or could it be cracked where the filter connects to?? I've had this van for 6 years and never had a problem til now. I will say it does have 345000 miles on the engine. Never been worked on before.

well then i can only think the seal surface on the block was not clean ,or it picked up some dirt orgrease when you guided the filter up to the adaptor on the block ! if its sealed this time just be careful next time .good luck .

Well found the problem it was my oil pump. Had nothing to do about fitting the filter on the motor. Oil pump has a check valve in it and it was shut , therefore shooting all my fresh oil I put in it through the gasket on my filter. Oh, about anywhere from 100 to 120 psi instead of 40 - 60 psi. Problem solved thanks for your help.
