Default Need help upgrading My Dome lights in my 04 Express conversion van

Hello all, I’ll make this as quick and not confusing as possible. Long story short- I bought some some light led pucks on Amazon to upgrade the look on my van. They are 2 wire (red/black). When intim out the old halogen lights there are 3 wires. I know one is for door control, the other is for switch control and the black is ground or negative. My question is how do I connect the puck? There are only two wires. If I connect the red wire from the puck to the yellow wire coming from the van the switch for reading light works but the light will not turn on when the doors open. If I connect the red wire from the puck to the blue wire coming down the light will turn on when the doors open but will not power on when the doors are closed and you press the reading light switch. How do I connect these pucks to the current setup? I checked all the lights and they all have 3 wires coming down into the old setup. Any help is greatly appreciated. Here are the pics of what I have( wires and switch along with the pucks I bought on Amazon.

this is the puck lights I bought from amazon

a halogen bulb only has two legs on it

I have no idea how conversion vans are wired, but I'm going to guess that yellow and blue are connected together inside lamp housing. Try doing that.

Default Update…

Well I tried connecting the yellow and blue wire together. When the doors are open the light turns on. When the door is closed and you flip the switch on, the light also turns on but so do the rest of the dome lights in the car. Which leads me to believe they are all hooked up in a series. I’m thinking i might have answered my own question but i believe I will have to find a two way light or 3 wire led puck light if they even make something of that nature. Other comments or suggestions welcome!

that's how dome lights work in my van. You never really explained how you wanted or expected them to work.

Since you’re dealing with two different activation sources (circuits, your factory dome lights kept them isolated from each other.

Combining the yellow and blue wires joined the circuits and therefore all of the lights in the van.

You can return the circuit to normal operation by using a diode on the yellow and the blue wires on every puck light you install.

If you’re not proficient with soldering, you probably want to return the puck lights and use the original fixtures and upgrade to an LED bulb.

thank you for the help, yeah I reached out to a buddy of mine that does conversion and party buses and he suggested the very same thing. Soldering isn’t a problem this was the biggest headache I’ve encountered thus far.
My Next headache/adventure is to install rock lights under the running boards and find a source to connect them when the doors open for the rock lights to come on as well so you can see where to step at night. Thanks again for the responses guys, it’s a pleasure to know knowledgeable and willing people are still out there somewhere!
