Just got my 2004 Chevy 1500 Passenger 5.3 with 120km last fall. Great van; the whole family fits. When I figure out how to add the back seat without blowing my budget then it'll hold four more kids...
Last fall the air conditioning worked. Last week when I tested it during a warm day, nothing. No cool air; just outside air. I checked the AC fuse and also the AC relay (swapped with wipers relay) but the clutch isn't turning on when I switch to AC on the climate controls. There should be a sound of the engine taking the extra load and the compressor clutch 'clicking', right?
Can anyone give me advice on what to do next? Is this a 'known' problem with this type of van? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe.

I tested the low side pressure on a hot day, and it was around 45 p.s.i.
I added a can of leak sealant and it may have added to the pressure because the compressor now kicks in by itself; I don't have to short out the sensor pins.
I let the van run for some time with the air conditioning on, but there is still no cool air and the low side piping and the accumulator is still quite warm.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Joe_Mech
