Default OBD Display

Hello, Thanks for all the past help.

The OBD reader I have now uses a serial port ...
I tried Bluetooth readers but cell phone has a frustrating issue connecting with software.

I'd like one that can both display and reset items such as my airbag relearn.

laptop based scan tools from autoenginuity may be what you are looking for. Launch also makes scan tools that can access body systems. these are in the $300 range.

not sure what you mean by airbag relearn. I have never seen this function even with the oem factory scan tool. If you want to view data, clear codes both of these tools will do it. There is not much if any bidirectional scan tool functions for the air bag systems.

I've had good luck with my expensive Innova scan tool. It does all the things that tech2 mentioned.

Appreciate it,

Just discovered that it's common for pins to spread in the port and not make contact w a reader.
I think I'll be just fine with the Bluetooth readers I have - all refuse to connect, it's obv .the port connectors

Take it the JY airbag not being 'learned' to the system isn't the cause of the nifty airbag light.

just make sure the dlc connector pin 16 has battery voltage. if not no scan tool will power up and communicate with any module.

airbags for gm are plug and play. the only learning or programming required is when a new sdm is installed or updated.

I'm wondering if it's the clockspring.

Airbag light is on and horns don't work
