Default iPhone not connecting via USB

2014 Suburban LTZ with the NAV radio. iPhone 8 Plus was connecting normally so I could play music/audiobooks/podcasts, etc with USB cable connected to outlet in center console. Suddenly stopped working with my phone. When I connect, it will charge the phone but says “this media cannot be used”. Tested with other iPhones and it worked normally. Tested my iPhone with other cables and it didn’t work. Tested my iPhone in other cars and it worked normally. Rebooted my iPhone and it didn’t work. Disconnected battery on car to try and reset radio and it didn’t work. All software up to date. Brought to dealership and duplicated all problems and they can’t figure it out. Next step is to do a factory reset of my phone. Before I try that, anyone experience this on any model and have a simple solution I’m overlooking?

Sheesh. I would reset. Never heard of this. Do you have Bluetooth capabilities?

Default You need at least one song in your iTunes app

In order for the Infotainment system to recognize your iPhone when you connect it using a USB cable you MUST have at least one song in your phones iTunes app. My iPhone XS Max on iOS 12.X.X was having the same issue and as soon as I put a song into iTunes, it worked.

Default This worked!!

Wow! This worked! Made sure I had music in the iTunes app and now my Spotify, audible, podcast and music plays through my dock connector while the USB is charging my iPhone!
