PSA announcement... that if you have side doors, remember to oil them.
Short Story...
Working from home,
living on a dirt road,
the time got away from me and van been sitting a lot...
Son says "Pop, can i borrow the big van ?", sure, throw keys...
son with arms of gorilla, forces open side door, hinge bends...
"Gee Pop, all i did was push it open a little".
Shop fixed for me, did real nice job, removed old ones, welded on new, painted.
Not cheap, but back to new and have the re-designed hinges.
[ i had estimates from 500 to 1200, good work's not cheap, dealer actually did for 900, and still looks new, not bad considering I've had since 2006, and very little problems, so few i bought another in 2014 and couldn't bear to sell the old one, the AWD, comfort and room has spoiled me].
( I have a 2006 AWD 1500 and a 2014 AWD 1500, the hinges on 2014 are different).
A little bit of oil would have saved me some money.
If you have the side doors, oil them at least monthly.
Lack of maintenance will always cost you more in the long run.
[ that and for the young, if it doesn't move easily when it's supposed too, pounding on it or forcing it, never helps ! ].
[ and if you've never dropped your spare tire, you better oil that mechanism, and if you haven't been doing regularly, it may already be too late ].
