Default Radio antenna cable access

I'm trying to replace the radio antenna base on my 2011 express but how do I access the grommet that goes through the firewall during installation? Its behind HVAC components. The antenna part number is 20830818
Thanks.

Try pushing the grommet out from the inside of the vehicle. You may have to remove the doghouse.

My issue is the install. I cant even see it from under the hood. The grommet has to press into the metal firewall.

Yeah that sucks. I think GM's specialty is blocking access to things. It boggles my mind that I have to remove the driver's seat to access the fuse box. But I can't complain too much... in my old Astro everything under the hood was packed so tight it was like a jigsaw puzzle.

See if you can unbolt things just enough to be able to shift them out of the way. Otherwise ... find somebody with small hands?

You may be on to something with removing the doghouse. Maybe I can get my hand in front of the firewall from inside the van with the cover removed. If I can be a contortionist.

I dont know the answer to your question..
. but I always say.. work smarter not harder...
so with that attitude..... or line of thinking...
why not just make another ( hole ) and grommet..
one were you can get to easily ...

Default Update

UPDATE:
Inside the van under the carpet squeeze the grommet to detach from the firewall metal and push forward. Detach the the antenna cable at the connector. Tie and tape a fish line, I used weed wipper line to the end of the antenna cable and pull it through from outside. I had to pull the grommet through a tight spot shown in the photo. Reverse the procedure to pull the new cable back in. Worked out well for me. Hope this helps.
Thanks all!
