Default Rear HVAC Noise

Hi, I have a 2005 Express with rear HVAC that is making a noise coming from the rear HVAC unit.

I pulled the covers off this weekend and disconnected what looked like the harness to the blower motor and the diversion gate motor and the noise was still there. It sounds like a fan is running and it has debris in the fan enclosure.

Any idea what this could be before I start taking more things apart?

THank you

I'm confused. You said it was still making noise AFTER you UNPLUGGED the blower motor?

If so then it can't be debris in the fan. After you remove the cover, you should be able to see right into the fan impeller. Maybe post some photos so we know what you're talking about.

I was confused too.....yes the blower motor and flap actuator were disconnected and they were still a noise coming from the area.

I took a peek behind the ducting and there is another flap actuator that sits between the ducts and the sheet metal.

I push the axle back and forth on it and the noise went away so I'm going to see if it comes back here's a picture of the actuator. It is circled in white.

ok the plastic flaps tend to distort with heat so maybe it got stuck , and the actuator spun a shaft.

the whole unit is a pain in the butt to remove since it's plumbed in, but the ducting comes off very easily.
