Default Rear leaf spring stud

2001 Chevy Express 3500 Cut Away. Mulling over replacing the rear leaf springs, this is an RV so there is plenty in the way. It appears the front of the rear leaf spring is held in place by a stud, not a bolt. Am I seeing this right?? Using mirrors there is not a bolt head on the other side!

There has to be something on the other side to hold it in place or else the stud would work its way out!

There is a head on the other side, it is not a hex head and does not look like a carriage bolt, I;m guessing stud

Does it have a hex on the side with the threads? They make special installation tools that do all the work from one side. You just need a wrench for the nut so you can get a socket on the bolt. It might still be a bolt... just a "point drive" bolt.

Thanks, looking at the picture it does hav a hex on the end. Any idea what holds in in place on the other end? The bolt needs to be removed to get the spring out.

It likely just has a round head on the other end with nothing holding it. Use the ratchet on the small hex to hold it, unthread the nut with a wrench, then it should just knock out.

You win the prize on this one! I have been all over the internet and read and checked parts lists every way I could think of and nothing. I can find no replacement bolt for this, only a standard hex head bolt so going to guess it is for manufacturing.
