Replacing yaw sensor
My 2016 3500 SWB van is showing U1826-71 code which means invalid data from yaw sensor. I did all the diagnostics, the ABS module (EBCM) and wiring all check out OK. The steps for replacing the sensor includes:
4. "Using the special functions menu on the scan tool, reset the yaw rate sensor."
I imagine the step is there for a reason but what does it do? Is it some sort of critical recalibration thing? Is it really needed? (do these things ever actually go out of calibration?)
I don't have any of the GM diagnostic hardware or software. Is there any other way to do this? I have an OBDlink MX+.
Alternatively, is it possible that just doing the reset would be enough to fix my problem?
if it's necessary, and it can't be done without the MDI/GDS or whatever to do it... where could I go to get this done?

Just an update for anyone who's interested. As mentioned above I went through the procedure: validate the ebcm and the wiring, and after both checked out fine, I bought a yaw sensor module ($200) - and after clearing the code from the EBCM it now stays clear. Success! I didn't recalibrate the yaw sensor, but the van seems to drive normal. I may take it to some place that has a MDI2 and get them to recalibrate for me or maybe I'll just let it sit as-is and figure it's fine as long as the code stays gone.
All three annoying dash lights this thing had when I got it are now gone!
1. Service Stabilitrak (replace yaw sensor)
2. Park assist off (got chime module and made a wiring harness to connect it to OBD port)
3. Tire pressure low (got a key fob, had it programmed and used it to activate TPMS relearn mode; bought a TPMS reprogrammer to relearn the tire positions.)
