Default Subwoofer boxes

Gents,
I have a Rockford Fosgate Prime R250-1 250 Watt Mono Amplifier for a sub I found in my basement. Since its there and Im trying to enhance a litle bit my sound system, I want to use it and build a box for my van. Hows your setup? I know there are some of you with incredible sound systems, but thats major leagues. Just want a nice (ported or sealed) box.

If you are referring to me, it's not really that incredible. I am sure there is members here with better systems that are actually set up correctly. Mine actually feels like it sounded better on some past configuration, but I am too lazy with play with the settings. Especially in November/December.

You have an amp. The wattage seems low. I am used to seeing claims of 500 - 100 watts for your purpose. You can buy a 8", 10", 12" or 15" speaker(subwoofer) and get the manufacturers information for it. Once you have done that there are online websites with calculators that will guide you for the proper box size (cubic inch) to build. How to build etc. Might just be easier and cheaper to go on craigslist and buy a used box. Maybe even a pre-built one new.

That amp is fine. Just be sure to match it correctly to the sub. As far as a box, you'll save time by just buying one. They have to have a specific interior area (tuned) for the size of the sub, or it doesn't sound right. I paid $27.00 for the box, $40.00 for a JBL 10" sub, And $11.00 for a grill.

It is for me! Yeah, amp seems to be low powered, but I have it lying around from a failed project I guess,

I have been looking for subs to match that amp. looks like only small ones are in that range (6 - 8") For the ones I have been looking, I have the speces dor the volume of the boxes, both ported/sealed.
but no one says anything about put them in a Van

250 watts is plenty for a 10 inch sub. A compact sealed box will give you tight deep bass.

Your amp is 150 watts at 4 ohms, which matches well with a sub like this one....as an example.
