Is the transmission housing in a G-series different from a C/K OBS?
I read this somewhere, that the transmission housings in G-series vans are longer than the housings in C/K OBS trucks. Does anyone know if this is true?
I have a 350 with a 700r from a Vandura and I'm thinking of saving it for an OBS truck/Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon.

The K transmissions have a shorter tail housing to accommodate the transfer case. The C transmission should be the same, but you’ll want to check gear ratios and mechanical vs electrical shift control connections.
Is the longer tailhousing on 2wd applications something that can be removed?
Would the gear ratio and mechanical/electrical shift mechanisms prevent my 1989 transmission from being usable in certain vehicles?

Your questions would be better asked in a GMT400 forum. Perhaps someone has done this application and can speak personally about it.
The tail shaft housing encases the tail shaft itself, so both would have to be changed of you were to apply a 2wd trans to a 4wd trans.
