Odd. My 2013 voltage does change, though not often. Even the electrical upfitter manual for this year describes the different charging modes.

I also read that in the upfitter manual. In any case, I'm fairly confident the alternator was original because the company that owned the van before me used the cheapest parts they could get when replacing things. I replaced alot of things when I bought it because of this (with GM OEM parts) but never the alternator. It was a GM OEM alternator so I assume it was never replaced. 200k and it's peace of mind if nothing else. I'm planning/designing a hoist system for the rear so the bigger alternator will be helpful anyway.

I just looked at the cable on my van. It appears to be the factory cable and has a factory collar on it that says "22777071 GM Part Number". When I look this up, it brings me to the link I posted previously:

https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...cable-84090494

In this description, it says that it replaces the part number I have. So either the cable I have is for both 105 & 145 amp alternator options, or the new part number is a larger cable that covers up to 145 amp. Perhaps there were 2 different cables in 2013 and now they only offer the larger one?

I have zero hesitation replacing the cable if I need to, I just don't want to replace the cable if it's already the right one.
i have an 2008 chevy express 2500 4.8 base truck.i upgraded my alternator and the only thing it said to do was change the belt....its been on there 2 yrs and i havent burnt any wires.plugged right in and everything!!
