Default Wheel offset Chevy vs GMC

I have been dealing with a highway wandering issue. Have had 3 recent alignments and had the front end inspected 6 times. One mechanic said I need new idler arms. 5 to one so. Since I bought the van, actually a Cut Away converted to a Roadtrek RV. 01 Chevy 3500 8 cyl SRW.

I have swapped out the OE steel wheels for Aluminun. Almost the same except my van shows 18mm offset and wheels are 28mm. 2 year old tires with 10k Bridgestone V-steel 245 75 16 load range E, run 65 psi in the front and 80 psi in the rear.

Anyway decided to try different tires and wheels. Picked up a couple wheels today for $10 each from a 2000 GMC Savana 3500, gotta be the same wheels right. SizeMyWheels.com shows that the GMC wheels have a 28mm offset. I have looked around as it seems that the GMC and Chevy would be exactly the same but I can find no reference to the GMC wheel offset except for refurbed wheels which show both the GMC and Chevy wheels with a 25mm offset. Anyone know the offsets or where to look them up?

How about measure your wheels? The Dodge wheels on my van are 43.18mm offset. Why dismiss the mechanic that said you need an idler? Why not strap a video camera aiming at the idler and go for a drive?

When someone is told they need a repair they are almost always told to get a 2nd opinion, I have 5 2nd opinions, including an alignment specialist. I do not have an OE Chevy wheel to measure. Camera is a good idea.

After a couple hours on the internet attempting to find the offset I came across site's that shows the same part # for the Chevy and GMC wheel 09593585 and also the other vehicles it fit's. So will assume the 18mm offset on Size my wheels is incorrect. https://www.qualitybydilorenzo.com/g...dhcw%253D%253D

I find wheel-size.com is pretty reliable for OEM wheel info. I was going to suggest posting your issue on classbforum, but I see you already have an extensive investigation going there.
