Default 01 Silverado starting problem

Truck sometimes will start first time, most times takes 3-4, up to 8 tries. Been doing this over a year. Changed fuel filter, but didn't help. Once it starts it runs good. I would think that if the fuel pump is bad it would have shut down by now. It is a 1500 5.3L. Would appreciate any feed back.

The check valve in the fuel pump assembly is bad. It lets the fuel drain back into the tank when not running.

Might be you have a small leak in the fuel system that makes the system loose pressure. So the engine has to crank longer to re pressure the fuel system again. You wouldn't have a problem after starting because the system is still holding pressure for that short period of time. Check if you have any problem in the Fuel Pressure Regulator, if you want to replace a new one, check with Buy Auto Parts - Fuel Pressure Regulator
