Lightbulb 1984 Chevy C10 Electrical issue

I was adjusting my alternator and I didn't disconnect the battery. While adjusting the alternator I let go of the and touched the positive cable coming from the battery then a so shortening happenened causing some smoke to come from the ignition area. nothing happens when I try to turn it on now. no lights or anything. what could it be?
