distributor problems perhaps? take off the distributor cap and turn the rotor by hand. it should turn a little bit smoothly under light spring pressure and return all the way back when you let it go. This is your mechanical advance. The shaft in the distributor gets gummed up and the springs and weights wear. If your mechanical advance feels loose or sloppy then you can take the rotor off and inspect the weights and springs. If the mechanical advance drags and doesn't turn smoothly then the distributor needs to be removed and the driven gear pressed off so the shaft can be removed and cleaned. Or just replace the distributor.

Edlebrock carbs don't have a power valve so the only way you would get a condition with an edlebrock where you are dumping fuel is like if the floats sank. Electric fuel pumps can hurt carbs by constantly trying to send so much more volume than they need.
