1996 4.3 won't start and now fuel pump stuck on
I just replaced intake manifold gasket. In the process I knocked out of timing. Having major trouble getting it back. I know how to get TDC. IVE DONE IT. IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET TDC and not be on compression stroke? Also when I reconnected the battery terminal the fuel pump stays stuck on. At. Least I think it's fuel pump on??? When I let fuel out of Schraeder valve I hear the pump change noise, that's why I think it is the fuel pump. Been trying to start this for 3 days. Please help.

How did you get it out of time replacing the intake manifold gasket? Did you remove the distributor? I did not have to when I did my 99 4.3. Anyway, yes it can be at TDC on the exhaust stroke. If you removed the distributor and did not mark it, you have to get cylinder #1 at TDC. Point the rotor to the wire that goes to #1 cylinder. If it does not start then move the rotor 180 degrees and try again.
