Ok so I have a 1997 GMC Suburban. The brakes have always been below par on this vehicle. My dad and I have changed calipers, rotors, master cylinder, hydro-boost, pads of course and bled the system extensively. Today we changed the power steering pump as its the last thing that isnt not new in the system. The vehicle still has a very spongy pedal and feels as though there is no assistance from the booster. We pull a 7000 lb. boat with this rig and it has never been right. With or with out the boat in tow. Does anyone out there have any ideas as to what could be the issue? We have a trip fron north carolina to the florida keys coming up in two weeks and really need to remedy this braking problem. Any ideas? Please and thank you for any replies.

I cant even began to express how much this truck mean to me. The truck was purchased brand new 01/01/1997. And has just been catered to her whole life. I am still technically the new/original owner with all purchasing records even down to the list price tags off the lot in 97. Ive already replaced the windshield wiper module, and bought all new tires. But i have already noticed a phantom coolant leak. Thinking maybe back heater hook up. And a akward clunk randomly between 1st and 2nd. I want to try and adress thesevminor issues before it because a ****show. Any extra tips tricks or info you got to share id love to hear em all
Have the same coolant problem. Everything in that system is new and it still gets about a quart low and does not use or leak any more. Fill it up and I loose about a quart and then no more loss. It does not run hot or get above an average temp. So I have quit worrying about it.
