Default 1999 a/c clutch

I have to jumper the connection on the back of the a/c compressor for the clutch to engage. What is the purpose of the back connection, temperature switch?

thanks for any help

My 99 doesn't have a connection on the back of the compressor. Are you talking about the switch on the accumulator? If so this is a pressure switch which stops the compressor when it is low on freon to keep from damaging the compressor.

no, the low pressure switch works, when i disconnect it the a/c compressor disengages. i acutally have a plug-in connector on the back of my a/c compressor that i have to jumper to make the a/c system work.

thanks
