Hello all,
My father does not have money to get his Suburban fixed so I will be taking on the job. When you start the truck it turns over but wont start, try it a second time and it starts right up. My dad he has had this issue before and new fuel pump has corrected the issue. I ordered a new fuel filter and fuel pump from Rock Auto., the pump has 4 prongs, I am worried the one in my truck is a 2 prong pump. Also do you believe changing the fuel pump will fix the issue? Turning the key partial I hear the pump (priming), If i do this twice then the car starts right up. Anyone know what the issue is? and how difficult is it dropping the tank and replacing the fuel pump?

Welcome from Florida. Sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump assembly is bad. It is letting the gas bleed back into the tank when not running. I had that problem a few years ago in a Silverado and I added a check valve into the fuel line near the gas tank. This solved the problem.

That is what research has been telling me, it is the check valve in the fuel pump. Because I hear the fuel pump working when I turn the key. With the check valve being bad is it putting strain on the fuel pump?

Make sure the gas hose you use to make the connections is rated for fuel injection and not just regular gas hose. I installed mine as close to the gas tank as I could get it.
