2000 5.0L Vortec
Hey,
So I just replaced the head gaskets on a 5.0L Vortec. I'm not sure if I got the distributor installed right.
The engine turns over fine with no backfiring or anything, but fails to start. It doesn't even act like it wants to start.
From my understanding, the computer will throw a code if the distributor isn't installed correctly. I hooked my code reader up to it, and get no codes.
So my question, if the the engine has never successfully started, will it still show a code if the distributor is installed incorrectly??

crank it over till you have #1 cylinder up on copression stroke, pull plug and with someone cranking put thumb over plug hole, when you feel pressure stop cranking. With cap off distributor, align the rotor (metal end) to #1 cylinder on cap. Follow firing order clockwise on the cap.
