2005 Colorado will not come out of "neutral" (towing mode)
2005 Colorado, 4WD, 4 cylinder, manual
Panel has buttons that light up: 2WD, Neutral, 4WD
Just the 2WD button is usually lit up when I am driving regular.
Started up yesterday after a very heavy rainstorm, water was pooled in the floor of the truck. When I started it up all the panel buttons are lit up and it barely will drive forward. Owner's manual isn't very helpful, and directions to "Go out of Neutral to 2WD" did not work. Press brake, Start in first gear, press desired button..etc. This did not work, and I am concerned why ALL the lights are lit up. The truck runs and starts fine other than this. Plan B: I disconnected battery for 15 minutes hoping to "reset" something, no good. Plan C: Checking the fuses but not sure this has anything to do with it. Please help!

you most likely have water in the transmission control harness at the tranny. Either that or the TCM. All of that stuff is on the floor under the glovebox, so it was probably sitting in water for 3 days. Pull out the carpets and let it all air dry and search for the TCM. I dont know WHAT A TCM does in a manual but other than that, there should not be any problem with a rod that mechanically links the gear selector and the transmission.
Paul E. Mahan, have you tried speaking with a dealership about this issue? They may be able to assist you over the phone if you are looking to do it yourself or if you were to get a diagnosis it would be a good way to get a starting point on doing it yourself as well. I hope these suggestions help you.
