2008 SS Imapala Lifter Noise
I have a 2008 SS Impala and at about 6000 miles the lifters starting making noise on start up. I found a bulletin from GM on the 5.3L stating this is an issue. Chevy now tells me to take a hike and they will not do anything to the car.
Have any others have this issue?

Try to put a ac delco oil filter on it. I had a 2000 Tahoe 5.7 (purchased it used in 2002) I changed the oil the first time then experienced the same problem. I took it to dealer because it was still under warranty and they told me that some oil filters do not have a valve in them that was needed they also said that this would not hurt anything. I left the dealer feeling like I was told a bunch of BS but I changed the filter for shi...s and giggles and was surprised they were correct
MDTAHOE are you talking about a blow by valve in the filter of some sort? I noticed when I did my Oil change to RP I got the RP filter too. I have noticed that my oil pressure goes to about 70PSI under a heavy load, never seen it go that high or just never noticed. Oil is at the right level too, 6 quarts.

If it's an even noise all around, you may be chasing shadows. 6K is enough time for things to loosen up a little. My motorpool mechanics always claimed it was better to have them slappin' a little, than wound too tight and scorching valves.
I brought my 2009 Impala SS (with 4,000 miles) into dealership today complaining of lifter noise at start up. Dealer showed me a service notice from GM addressing the issue. It is an "advisory" which means it is not a "service bulletin" ... yet.
The advisory explains that oil level and quality should be checked by the technician. Engines such as the 5.3 V8 that are one or more quarts low might experience lifter noise at start up. The advisory advises the dealer to change the oil and filter; let the vehicle sit for at least two hours and recheck for noise. If none is heard, return to owner with advisement to keep oil level up. Another advisory from GM notes that the 5.3L V8 can be expected to "use" one quart of oil every 2,000 miles (hm-m-m-m is this a GM cop-out?).
The tech told me I probably would not be able to find the Service Advisory on-line as it is an internal document. I will try to get a copy later in the week.
They did not return my car today. I guess I'll learn more in a day or so.
