Default 2010 Chevy Silverado LT with knocking when started

I just recently purchased a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT Z71 Crew Cab truck with a 5.3 vortec engine in it. It has roughly 83000 miles on it. I have had it for a month and just noticed when I start it up I can hear knocking from the engine for anywhere from 1-3 minutes. Is this something I should be worried about and if so would the engine and powertrain warranty have transferred with the truck since the 5 yr./ 100,000 mile warranty hasn't expired yet?

Thanks in Advance for the help.

Check your engine oil...my 08 5.3 seems to be burning large amounts of oil and as the oil life begins to dwindle it progressivly gets worse from a lifter tick to a full blown knock...check the oil though dont just look at the guage....from what ivebeen reading in an attempt to fix my issue its a common problem with the AFM 5.3s

WalterrSilva,

Congrats on the purchase. Yes, the powertrain warranty was transferred over to you. I can certainly contact your Chevrolet dealership on your behalf if you would prefer. Please private message me when you are ready.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the email and it checked out good. The oil was changed not to long ago so I am wondering if this something that the dealer would look at under the warranty or not?
