2010 chevy suburban engine light
could be a blown fuse. not sure which one it is on our trucks but i know ford had a fuse that did a few things like cig lighter and the obd and maybe a few other things. but the blown fuse also wouldnt let a code scanner connect
Is there fault codes set in any of the modules? if yes post them.
a shop could do a bulb check...command all the cluster lights on with a scan tool.
-if there are no fault codes and nothing comes on with a bulb check...you probably need a new cluster. This site has a cluster repair vendor..d and d instruments.
-if you are really handy...remove the cluster....disassembly the cluster and see if the led has been removed by a devious person...or just burned out...solder a new one in.

tech, shouldnt the CEL light come on when the system does "system test" when the key is first turned "on". my understanding is the Cel wont illuminate when the key is on and this is why it failed
yes; it should do a bulb check at koeo and stay on until the engine starts. koer the light should go off if no fault codes are set or stay on if they are.
the question is...why is it not coming on...
-bad led
-cluster failure
-led removed by a previous owner...I have seen this
as the other cluster functions work...the cluster must have power and grd.
