Default 2012 Chevy Cruze overheating

Hello. I have a feeling I’ll be a member here for a good while. I have 2 Chevy’s. A 2019 equinox and a 2012 Cruze.

The Cruze started overheating. When I opened the hood the coolant was empty and I found this in the picture. What part is this that I need to replace? It was spraying antifreeze out.

Im not sure what the part is, but I'd dump the Cruze. Thing is a piece of junk. Made in MX and not a good design. Might as well be a Vega.

Not possible at the moment. Going to need it for a while longer. Had it since it was brand new and only had to replace a sensor. It just now turned 70,000 miles.

My 2015 Malibu has had no major issues at all with 86,000 miles. A much better Chevy and has the last non-turbo 2.5 liter motor. Exceeds the EPA gas estimates by a lot.

Good for you? Lmao..

this place is a joke. I just fixed the car myself and it’s fine again.

IMHO Chevy is not great on a majority of the vehicles just like Ford. When you have vehicles or anything that is mass produced your going to have problems regardless of make and model. It does not matter what you have. I owned a Buick last and it only made it to 50,000 before a head gasket blew. I have also owned a BMW that had the same problem at 60,000. While at the same time my wife’s Toyota Camery made it to 165,000 before dying.

I had a Chevy C-1500 with 309,000 miles on the clock when I sold it, It only burned half a quart of motor oil per 4000 mile oil changes. Now you know why I stick with Chevy's. I just wanted/needed a four-wheel drive pickup. It's been solid as a rock, costing me very little other than normal wear and tear. So, yeah, I'll stick with Chevy's.

Not positive on this, but from looking at the pix, it appears to be an electrically controlled thermostat. They do have them.

Why do they keep adding things like that that just go bad sooner? What is wrong with a standard thermostat?
