Default 3 on the tree question lol

New member!

So, I have a 1971 C10 pickup with a 3 on the tree. The 1st/reverse tube is coming out of the swivel. It slides up and down. I have noticed that the 2nd/3rd tube pivot is “fixed” by welded or other. Is there something that I am missing like a cotter pin or is it supposed to move up and down?

The 4.037 nut assy. tightens the clamp against the rod fixing it in place. Make sure that all of the parts are there.

Check the clips and cotter pins: The 1st/reverse shaft should be held in place by a cotter pin or retaining clip to prevent it from coming off the pivot. If not, replace them.
