Hi


I have a 1996 350 with 292k on it. Today it start right up, but the service engine light was on, drove 10 miles and tried to restart after a few minutes. It cranked for about two minutes, started, but ran very poorly. I drove home it seem to run ok, but after shutting off on the driveway it wouldn't start again, but smoke poured out the tailpipe. Any ideas. Thanks for any help I get.

Still haven't figured out what is wrong. The did start, so I took it to O'Reilly Auto to get the codes checked. I have a coolant sensor not reading. Doesn't seem like this would be causing the truck to run poorly and not start at times.


I didn't shut the truck off at O'Reilly's, but when I got home it would start again. It ran poorly and stumbled at times. Does anyone have an idea. Thanks Rick

 

I went ahead and replaced the coolant sensor and it seemed to fix my problem. Thanks

 

You need that sensor to tell ECM how much fuel to allow . Good job
